Shadow

Shadow

arrival
i drove (nervously)
by your house (the other night)
with my (windows down)
music loud (banging at your front door)
hoping your music would (bang back)
pierce the metal (in my head, my mouth)
but your window (with silent ejaculation)
remained dark (watered whiteness)

departure
i drove back (let down)
the wind (your hair)
with sighs (and sing)
remembered our tune (of Red)
Vines & Vaseline (among other things)
don’t get old but (between you and me)
i’m looking for endless (wasting away)
summers with you (on the beach)
our sandy fingers (dissolved grain together)
grinding down teeth (as I drive home
alone
